New Computer!

After 3 years of having this computer that we got from Josh's parents when they upgraded, we finally were able to buy a new one. The old one was something crazy like 9 years old and let me tell you, it. was. slow! And it drove me NUTS, so we were pretty stoked to be able to get another one with this year's tax return (and we paid off our car!)!
The old computer...it is pretty ghetto.

Yes, we had to rest it on this cigar box because it had a crack in it...

Ahhh, much better! Not to be materialistic, but we like our new computer!

I need your help!

Ok, we are in the process of working on updating our kitchen. We painted it a greenish yellowish color, which I LOVE! I am wanting your ideas on a "theme" I don't want to do an all out theme, just some pictures on the walls. Josh had the idea of old barn doors, which I like, but I wanted to get some other ideas as well! Let me have 'em!

Mall playtime...

I think I have mentioned this before, but once, sometimes twice a week, we watch our little friend Zoe! This last week, we decided to go to the mall with our friends Maria and Isek and play! It was a blast...and I got a couple of shirts out of it!!! Here are some pics of our mall fun!

Funny story...so, Isek always talks about how he and Riley are going to get married...this came totally from his head, nobody ever suggested it, he just one day said that she was his girlfriend and they were going to get married someday (He also says they are going to have a baby and he is going to carry it...how nice of him!). So, Riley and Isek were playing in this car and she was not sharing the way he thought she should, so he stood up and looked at her and said, "You're not my girlfriend anymore." and ran off! I was cracking up. Riley didn't care too much, she had the whole car to herself, so she smiled!

Weee...

Ri and Isek...I LOVE this pic!

Me and Maria

After we were done playing, we took a potty trip to the family bathroom (since I had 3 kids that day, I thought that would be easiest!). We walked in and saw this...

Seriously, how cute is that, we need one at our house!

and then there were 4...

Sickness...

Well, it appears that Riley, Josh, and I have the flu...ugh. It started with Josh a couple of days ago and then Riley came into our room the other night saying she didn't feel well. Then last night, I started feeling bad. This morning, Josh and Ri felt worse, I thought I was better, but I got them appts. On our way there, I started feeling bad again and got this wretched cough (I sound like a sick barking dog). As we were there and I was describing the symptoms of Ri and Josh was talking about how he felt, the doc kept looking at me funny. A couple of minutes later, he says, "Why am I not looking at you too?" I tell him that I thought I was fine until we were on our way over. He does a flu culture on J and R and comes in and says, "I am going to look at you too."...you think it was the sickly barking dog that made him say that! Haha! Moral of the story, we have the dang flu. Boo on you flu.

My sewing!

Lately, I have been sewing! I love it! I had done a little bit of sewing in high school and college, but not much AT ALL. My mom gave me my great grandma's sewing machine for Christmas, and I have been learning how to make things! It is fun and quite relaxing...much to my surprise. When I was younger, I always said that I was not crafty because I did not have the patience for it, but since I have started branching out and trying things, I like it!
Made this blanket for Riley (yes, Aydia has one coming too!). It is made from her old baby clothes that got stained and I didn't just want to get rid of them, so I made her a blanket! She loves it!

The wetbag I made for my diaper bag!
Is this not the cutest fabric...I hope to make a skirt out of it for one of the girls...once I learn how!

Riley's bedtime story...

Riley wanted to tell us a bedtime story the other night. Here it is...it is adorable! I am using all of her exact words and pronunciation just so you can get the full affect!

There was a big castle and a little princess named Riley. There was a dragon who lived in a pond. He took Princess Riley's crown away and he breaked it. He took it to his pond and it got all wet. Then there was a berry godmudder. She zapped the dragon away. There is a mommy fairy princess, she has a crown too. She hold it in her hand, she is talking to somebody with her back (meaning her back was to Riley!). The berry god mudder took mommy's crown away from the dragon. Then the dragon goed back to his pond. Then the berry godmudder had tap shoes. Really, I was Princess Cinderella!

Article a friend showed me...

This is an article that I saw from a friend that I thought was quite funny and relating to many of our lives!

Accent
Tell Me About It by Carolyn Hax : Friend really doesn't get the kid thing

● Carolyn:
My best friend has a child. Her: Exhausted, busy, no time for self, no time for me, etc. Me (no kids): Wow. Sorry. What'd you do today? Her: Park, play group . . .
OK. I've done Internet searches; I've talked to parents. I don't get it. What do stay-at-home moms do all day? Please, no lists of library, grocery store, dry cleaners. . . . I do all those things, too, and I don't do them every day. I guess what I'm asking is: What is a typical day, and why don't moms have time for a call or e-mail?
I work and am away from home nine hours a day (plus a few late work events), and I manage to get it all done. I'm feeling like the kid is an excuse to relax and enjoy — not a bad thing at all — but if so, why won't my friend tell me the truth?
Is this a contest ("My life is so much harder than yours")? What's the deal? I've got friends with and without kids, and all us child-free folks get the same story and have the same questions.
— Tacoma, Wash.

Relax and enjoy. You're funny.
Or you're lying about having friends with kids.
Or you're taking them at their word that they actually have kids, because you haven't personally been in the same room with them.
Internet searches?
I keep wavering between giving you a straight answer and giving my forehead some keyboard. To claim you want to understand — while in the same breath implying that the only logical conclusions are that your mom friends are either lying or competing with you — is disingenuous indeed.
So, since it's validation you seem to want, the real answer is what you get. In list form. When you have young kids, your typical day is: constant attention, from getting them out of bed, fed, clean, dressed; to keeping them out of harm's way; to answering their coos, cries and questions; to having two arms and carrying one kid, one set of car keys and supplies for even the quickest trips, including the latest-to-be-declared-essential piece of molded plastic gear; to keeping them from unshelving books at the library; to enforcing rest times; to staying one step ahead of them lest they get too hungry, tired or bored, any one of which produces the kind of checkout-line screaming that gets the checkout line shaking its head.
It's needing 45 minutes to do what takes others 15.
It's constant vigilance, constant touch, constant use of your voice, constant relegation of your needs to the second tier.
It's constant scrutiny and second-guessing from family members and friends, well-meaning and otherwise. It's resisting the constant temptation to seek short-term relief at everyone's long-term expense.
It's doing all this while concurrently teaching virtually everything — language, manners, safety, resourcefulness, discipline, curiosity, creativity, empathy. Everything.
It's also a choice, yes. And a joy. But if you spent all day, every day, with this brand of joy — and then when you got your first 10 minutes to yourself, you wanted to be alone with your thoughts instead of calling a good friend — a good friend wouldn't judge you, complain about you to mutual friends or marvel at how much more productively she uses her time.
Either make a sincere effort to understand, or keep your snit to yourself.

Gallstones...

It appears that my hubby may have gallstones...he is in pain. Poor guy. He will get a sonogram on Wed to confirm, but the doc is 90% sure that is what it is.

Ballet class!

We signed Riley up for ballet! She LOVES it! She did such a great job too! She listened and actually did most of the things the instructor was doing! It was the cutest thing ever! Here are some pics!
